NICE!
you did a really good job forcing perspective with your sprites.
and that was one hell of a battle you made.
i am not really a fan of dialog during battles, but i have to say that this style works for you.
plus you didn't do a beam struggle for the finale so that should earn you like a bazillian points.
i really don't know what else to say. hopefully this isn't your last flash project, man!

very good

it's always nice to see Makoto and Ibuki used because they have awesome sprites
and only a few people use them.
plus you used dubstep as the fight music and made it work. that is really cool.
your movements themselves were very smooth.
what stopped me from giving you a 10 wasn't the length of it but rather it was kind of jumpy in regard to having Makoto seemingly teleport all over the place for a combo.
and it never made sence to me how/why characters kick off of invisible walls in the sides, but that second one is more of my own personal taste.
i hope to see a full length fight from you in the future.

Thanks! This was meant to be short. I've always wanted to make a fight scene using dubstep, but making it match with the choreography is very difficult.

Part 3 will not disappoint!

wow

this really is a work of art. everyone involved did a awesome job.
the music choices where perfect. the art was fantastic. the voice work matched the characters very well. the scripting was appropriately realistic.
all this together told your story so well, that it feels like a "real" show.
i have one minor critique, the music during the fight scene seems to drown out some of the dialog. but really, it doesn't affect my score at all.

R1665 responds:

Yeah, getting proper volume levels between loud fight anthems and dialogue is always a bit tricky.

one extremely small complaint

the sounds kind of seemed a bit "watery" and i think it is a sound compression issue. other than that it was pretty awesome.
you hardly see the use of creating a stage element, and then applying it to the fight.
and i wish more sprite battles had them.
also, i really enjoyed the finishing blow, we need to see more of that too......
xD

don't get me wrong

you have improved on all levels.
the way you made your fight have a 3d kinda feel to it.
like the tornado hurricane kick you had akuma do was insanely innovative.
plus the way you handled the talking scenes was something completely original.
but, this animation felt a little rushed.
now there really isn't a standard bar for the amount of fighting a video "needs"
because at the end of the day, you can make whatever you want.
but i personally think that you could have showcased your talents a bit more.
the choreography in this flash that you have done is rarely if never used.
after 4 years of waiting, whats an extra couple months gonna hurt.

great, but...

to me your ryu sprites seemed to have a stop-go-stop kind of feel.
now correct me if i am wrong but i believe it could have been because you boasted your frames per second in order to make dragonclaw maneuver better.
i think that the third strike version of ryu is run at 25-30 fps and the ryu from capcom vs snk (which is what i think the one you used is based off of)
is ran at 20-25 fps.
that being said, i believe the third strike version would have complimented dragonclaw better.
i think the backgrounds need some work, but it didn't take away from this movie because you were at least willing to make a couple area transfers.
you have some creative fight choreography, and i can see you improving really fast.

diochi responds:

your review was pretty spot on except it wasn't snk ryu but rather alpha ryu.
I did in fact raise the fps to 34 in so that dragonclaws speed would as fast as he was i mugen(or almost as fast in this case) and was forced to double frame evil ryu's movements so that he would'nt look too far fetched.

I have only played a few street fighters so i didn't know that some had higher frame rates than others. If I had I would have used the Evil Ryu from 3rd Strike(assuming 3rd Strike had an Evil Ryu)

In any case thanks for telling me about the frame rates that will come in handy for future vids and I'm glad that you enjoyed watching this.

freaking awesome

i won't pick out or quote any certain scenes, but this was one of the most organized MK spoofs i have ever watched.
i liked how you went out of the realm of the game without making it look too forced or out of place.
some of the scenes were cleaverly connected, and it even felt like one of the characters made it through the game.
(by the way, you must REALLY hate akuma)

I do and with good reason.

getting better

there is a noticable amount of improvement between mku3 and this.
not just your choreography style but your storytelling style as well.
i am glad to see an animation where the fighters use their surroundings to their advantage; it makes the fight more gritty and realistic.
the backstory still seems a bit confusing, but that could just be me.
ps. that lazer pinball thing you did looked really cool.

smoothuser responds:

I have gotten that comment on the back story before. It seems like something i'll have to revamp. Haha, lazer pinball. Good name for it I guess. I was trying to make Cyclops shine. We'll see more of him in the future and Guile is way overdue for a good fight. Thanks for the rating and critiques.

interesting

well it didn't really lag for me like you were making it sound like in your
"author comments" but other than that;
you have a very good eye for making creative choreography in your fights.
(like how two of them were moving so fast that time had to slow down to keep up)
i have seen it done before, but not like the way you've presented it.
the only advice i can give you is that you should re-read your speech before you present it.
now, that didn't affect me scoring this flash, but it probibly will to someone else.
